Deltans are proud Nigerians, not part of Biafra - Gov Okowa's aide

- Ossai Ovie has stated that the people of Delta state do not subscribe to the agitation for Biafra
- The governor’s aide stated that the south south state is not a part of the south east region
- According to Ovie, including Delta on the map is a wrong judgement as the state was never a part of Biafra

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have been told to remove Delta state from the map of Biafra. According to reports, the directive was given by Mr. Ossai Ovie, a special assistant to the governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa.

Ovie made his comments while addressing newsmen at the state capital, Asaba on Thursday, June 8. According to Ovie, Delta has never been part of Biafra; and so, including the state on the map of Biafra, was an error. He said: “Delta is not part of the South-East region and does not subscribe to the renewed agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra and others. “We are from the South South part of Nigeria and we are proud Nigerians.”Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has assured Igbos in the North that President Muhammadu Buhari will ensure that those behind the three-month eviction notice will be arrested and prosecuted. APC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi made the disclosure while assuring Igbos that the Buhari-led Federal Government will ensure their safety in the region.
