Zambia planning Nigeria’s downfall

Following their double leg victory over Algeria, Zambia have a chance of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup with only Nigeria in their way.

Zambia recorded a home 3-1 win over Algeria on Saturday, September 2 before a 1-0 win in the second leg on Tuesday, September 5.

The two victories have boosted their 2018 World Cup chances with seven points, second in Group B of the qualifiers.

The Chipolopolo will need a win away at Nigeria on Saturday, October 7 to enhance their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

Ahead of the game, the Football Association of Zambia have concluded plans to begin preparation with a training camp in Spain.

The home-based players will first travel to Spain for a two-week training programme where they will be joined by their foreign based teammates.

They are also scheduled to spend some time in Ghana for acclimatization ahead of the game against Nigeria.

“So we will send them to Europe for two weeks. The players who have been playing COSAFA and CHAN will go first and then their colleagues will join them, then we will move into Ghana for a week then go into Nigeria and fight to win because we believe we have a chance to go to the World Cup,” FAZ president Andrew Kamanga is quoted to say on the federation’s website.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria lead Group B with 10 points and need a win against Zambia to confirm their qualification to the World Cup with one qualifying match to go.

A Zambia win will bring them level to 10 points and stretch the qualifiers to the last matchday when they host Cameroon and Nigeria travel to Algeria.
